Housing Support Worker
Our housing support worker assists individuals in need of housing as well as those who are currently housed but facing challenges. We collaborate with youth, adults, families, and seniors to find suitable housing, mediate tenant-landlord disputes, complete necessary forms, and link clients to additional community supports and resources.
Your housing support worker can...

Schedule regular check ins for ongoing support.

Mediate landlord/ tenant issues to foster positive relationships.

Assist with forms required for the tenancy board, public housing, housing benefits, or other funding opportunities.

Work with a low income advocate at Nova Scotia Power to assist with issues such as outstanding balances or other fees.

Connect clients with other community resources and supports.

When should I call?
You should reach out to our Housing Support Worker if you live in West Hants Regional Municipality and you are:

Living rough (ie. in a vehicle, outside, or without heat/ running water.)

Hidden homelessness

Staying with others, couch surfing, or living in a camper on someone else's land

At risk of imminent eviction or given notice.

Facing other challenges related to your housing.

About Me
My name is Katrina Hayes.
I am a proud parent of four - two of whom are adults. Originally from West Hants, I moved to the Rocky Mountains at 18 and returned home in 2022. I hold a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies and will be pursuing my Masters of Sociology at Acadia University this fall. My interests include gardening, hiking, and family time, and I am deeply passionate about helping others find support to lead more fulfilling and comfortable lives!
